City Manager Report – FY2025 | Quarter 3

From community events to major infrastructure upgrades, here’s a look at what your City has been working on for Quarter 3 (April, May and June) of FY2025:

 

🐾 Animal Services | 570 Pets Helped in One Day!
On April 26, the Rosenberg Animal Control & Shelter teamed up with Fort Bend County Animal Services and The Empty Shelter Project – Texas to host a free community spay/neuter event at George Junior High School. Thanks to our partners and volunteers, 570 cats and dogs received services in just one day!

🏠 Code Compliance | Safer Neighborhoods & Streamlined Services

  • Two unsafe structures demolished: 1009 Sally Anne Drive and 1309 Millie Street.
  • Averaged 315 new code cases and 450 new permit applications each month.
  • Rolled out MGO software to make permitting, inspections, and contractor registrations faster and easier for residents and businesses.

  • Social Media: 239 posts | 886,545 reach | 961 new followers
  • Website: 62,285 users | 211,442 page views
  • Top searches: Maps, Restaurant Scores, Utility Service Application

  • News Releases: 19 issued this quarter
  • Hosted the City-Wide Garage Sale, Easter Egg Hunt, Touch-A-Truck, Cinco de Mayo, Mother/Son Dance, and Pitch, Hit & Run Events.
  • Completed a new mural downtown at 2100 Ave G by local artist Dagoe Marse.
  • Rosenberg Civic Center hosted 338 rentals this quarter.

🚒 Fire Department | Building for the Future

  • Construction underway at Fire Station No. 1.
  • Hosted the 93Q Morning Show at Fire Station No. 3 on July 1 to honor local first responders.

🚓 Police Department | Safe and Secure

  • Held a Drive-Thru Drug Take Back event on April 26, helping residents safely dispose of old or unused medications.

🛠 Public Works | Improving Traffic, Safety & Beauty

  • Updated “No Trucks” signage along Bamore Road for improved traffic management.
  • Installed speed humps on South Walger Avenue.
  • North Quiet Zone officially approved and activated May 27, reducing train horn noise at Walnut Ave., 3rd St., and Rawson Rd.
  • Installed decorative City Medallions at the I-69/Bamore Road overpass.
  • Began mosquito spraying twice weekly.

🚶 Streets & Sidewalks | Better Walkways & Roads

  • Completed all sidewalks in the FY2025 replacement program.
  • Fort Bend County finished overlaying the remaining FY2022 streets.

🌳 Tree Trimming | Beautifying #Rtown

  • Completed the annual tree trimming project in Council District No. 3.

💧 Utilities | Investing in Our Water System

  • Began construction on Water Well No. 11 at Water Plant No. 8.
  • Partnered with Fort Bend County Drainage District to dredge and clean the Re-use Station holding pond.
  • Released the 2024 Water Quality Report.
  • Took over water plant and lift station operations in-house, cutting water loss and lowering costs.
